UK Civil Aviation Regulations

These are published by the CAA on our UK Regulations pages. EU Regulations and EASA Access Guides published by EASA no longer apply in the UK. Our website and publications are being reviewed to update all references. Any references to EU law and EASA Access guides should be disregarded and where applicable the equivalent UK versions referred to instead.

The CAA is the UK’s spaceflight regulator, under the Space Industry Act 2018, the Outer Space Act 1986 and the Space Industry Regulations 2021. We are responsible for determining licence applications and for monitoring the actions of licensees and other, to ensure they are compliant with their licences and the legislation. If we identify or suspect any contraventions, or potential contraventions, we have a range of tools, including powers of enforcement, to help achieve compliant outcomes.

The Spaceflight enforcement policy summarises what those enforcement tools and powers are and how we will use them. It sets out the framework we will use to determine what action to take and incorporates the core principles of the overarching CAA Regulatory Enforcement Policy to encourage compliance and deter non-compliance.
